He served as a moderator in HKIA’s ‘More Than High-rise, Explore Hong Kong through Architecture’ forum held in Tokyo in 2018 and Juror for HKIA Annual Award in 2019. He is also a Visiting Professor at the Department of Architecture of Hong Kong Chu Hai College.
Renowned for his holistic approach to urban and architectural design, Kazuo's work focused on integrating environmental considerations with innovative design solutions. His international experience included significant contributions at Agence Candilis in Paris, Athens and Saudi Arabia, and co-founding AG5 in Germany, where he championed the "Baubiologie" approach. He served as Co-director of the UIA work programme Architecture for a Sustainable Future, Director of World GBC and Director of ARCASIA's Committee on Green & Sustainable Architecture. His recent commitment to the R&D of CASBEE underscored his dedication to sustainable building practices. These important roles highlighted his lifelong commitment to sustainable built environment and practice, leading us to a resource-efficient future.
Ar. Prof. Kazuo IWAMURA’s legacy will continue to inspire architects worldwide. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, colleagues, and the many who admired his work.
